Alice and the Mad Hatters
By Sophia Siedlberg.
Well, Alice has just proven what she is really about. You see the ever so wonderful Alice Dreger often likes to stress that she opposes surgery on children. Until we saw her pull the trick again on the Oprah Winfrey show.
The Trick involves that little “T” word (Transgender). Dreger says:
"Transgender is about a gender identity. And so when somebody is born, everybody gets a gender assignment. Even kids who are intersex get a gender assignment as boy or as girl. What transgender is, is when you feel the assignment you got was the wrong one. So when you grow up later on and you say, 'You know, they said I was a girl but I'm really a boy,' or vice versa."
Let’s see how this works by comparing two situations. The person actually born a given sex and the person “assigned” a given sex.
The person born a given sex, is born, a given sex, they grow up unhappy with it so they decide to change it. There are numerous theories as to why this happens ranging from the theories of Professor Swaab describing how brain differentiation may work to those barking mad “Sex sex sex sex XXXX” theories peddled by Blanchard.
Well they grow up unhappy with that sex, but they acknowledge that they were born physically that sex. They simply regard that as a natural variation of some sort.
The person “assigned” a given sex is usually assigned because they are intersexed. This usually involves a lot of quacks running around in a state of utter panic. A bit like a mad hatter’s tea party. And they get the scalpels out, make a few arbitrary “judgments” which usually go along the lines of: “Let’s determine what sex this child may want to be, and then assign them the opposite, hahahaha!” They then go ahead with “surgery” (actually this is designed to have later complications and cause as much distress as possible) and then when they grow up objecting to this somewhat barbaric treatment we have Alice “Ilsa Koch” Dreger saying “Both are the same thing” and presumably should be handed over to people like Dr. Kenneth Zucker and brainwashed (as Brutally as possible) and if they still object to it, they are branded as “Gender confused” and then handed over to Professor J Michael Bailey who determines how fit for sex they are. (Usually with his own variant of the Phalometer test, the original of which he himself fails).
When he deems them “incompatible” for sex, they are fetishistic perverts who should be beaten up by a Christian lynch mob.
You see this is what Alice Dreger actually means by:
"Transgender is about a gender identity. And so when somebody is born, everybody gets a gender assignment. Even kids who are intersex get a gender assignment as boy or as girl. What transgender is, is when you feel the assignment you got was the wrong one. So when you grow up later on and you say, 'You know, they said I was a girl, but I'm really a boy,' or vice versa."
I think there is a gulf of difference between someone who feels trapped in the wrong body or someone who may or may not correspond to one of Dr. Ray Blanchard’s barking mad theories. And someone growing up feeling surgically raped. I do not buy this, not one bit of it.
Let’s take the “Feeling surgically raped” to it’s logical conclusion and we will see where Dreger is coming from. A woman is a victim of rape. She suffers a whole series of unpleasant problems as a result. However, there are certain attitudes often expressed by the rapist when he is arrested. They usually read like: ”Well they asked for it” and “Well they were dressed provocatively” and “They are complaining about it because really they enjoyed it”. These comments of the rapist are usually dismissed (rightly) as the utterings of a deranged mind.
Let’s just draw this comparison. Try: “Well they asked for it” would be “Well they were morally wrong being born like that. What can you expect? They asked for it”. How about “Well they were dressed provocatively”? Well that sounds like: “They were born with ambiguous genitalia. It had to be dealt with.” (This being followed with the act of surgical rape of course). Add to this: “Well, they complain because they enjoyed it” reads like applying Blanchard’s barking mad “Auogynephilia” theories to intersex kids assigned “Male”.
Which bit of this does Alice Dreger not understand? No, I do not want the Klu Klux Klan knocking on my door, or the usual howling drivel from a bunch of redneck academics. I want Dreger to answer to that accusation clear and simple. She will not of course, Alice Dreger and her little friends never answer awkward questions. No they respond with lame excuses about “Freedom of speech” and killing people’s pet cats. And appearing in weblogs screaming out their paranoid fantasies that a bunch of evil <insert picked on minority> are out to get them.
The bit Alice Dreger does not understand is that when she says stupid things like:
"Transgender is about a gender identity. And so when somebody is born, everybody gets a gender assignment. Even kids who are intersex get a gender assignment as boy or as girl. What transgender is, is when you feel the assignment you got was the wrong one. So when you grow up later on and you say, 'You know, they said I was a girl but I'm really a boy,' or vice versa."
She says that after surgical assignment that was not consented to that the person “assigned” is really a member of the “assigned” sex. If (Heaven forbid) they grow up and say “Hey you got it wrong” then (as a feminist) Dreger will say something like: “Well, if you get more surgery and consent to it, you will still be the sex assigned at birth because surgery will never make you the sex you feel you are.”
How stupid (read sadistic) is that. This is why she earned the nickname “Ilsa Koch”. I really cannot see in any way shape or form, how Alice Dreger can justify saying:
"Transgender is about a gender identity. And so when somebody is born, everybody gets a gender assignment. Even kids who are intersex get a gender assignment as boy or as girl. What transgender is, is when you feel the assignment you got was the wrong one. So when you grow up later on and you say, 'You know, they said I was a girl but I'm really a boy,' or vice versa."
Without appearing to be the medical equivalent of an advocate of the most profound form of sadism you could imagine. And she is living in cloud cuckoo land if she and her buddies believe that there will not be a time when they are called to account for it.
They can keep burying their heads in the sand but the more and more people who are left feeling violated by the medical profession and more and more trouble Dreger is stacking up for herself, especially sitting there all blond and pink appearing like some lebensfrau in heat saying:
"Transgender is about a gender identity. And so when somebody is born, everybody gets a gender assignment. Even kids who are intersex get a gender assignment as boy or as girl. What transgender is, is when you feel the assignment you got was the wrong one. So when you grow up later on and you say, 'You know, they said I was a girl but I'm really a boy,' or vice versa."
Well take it from me. Those words will come back to haunt her. If I had been sitting there at the Oprah Winfrey show and she fed me that line, I would have turned round and said “Well, you admit to your visceral sadism then. Go on, cry freedom of speech, better still, get someone to bump off a cat to try and upset me. You and your colleagues are nothing more than medical rapists, substituting penetration with vivisection and it is as simple as that!” So I now await for yet more cowardly fudge and blame tactics. I am calling these people perverted vivisectionists. Now what are they going to do about that? Hound me?
You see I consider what was done to me as a child as an act of premeditated malice. And when you think about it, this “Blame the victim when we make mistakes” routine, built into the theory, proves that this sort of thing is done out of malice.
Oops freedom of speech remember?
