Jesús Curiá's sculpture wins the Valdepeñas prize after 14 years dedicated to painting
The work of art 'Hermaphrodite' by the Madrid sculptor Jesus Curiá took first prize in the the LXVIII International Contest of Plastic Arts of Valdepeñas, with an award of 30.000 Euros, established by the Town Council of Valdepeñas and the administrative council of Castilla-La Mancha.
The winning sculpture was selected from among the 501 works received, of which 403 were paintings, the mayor of Valdepeñas pointed out, Jesus Martín, who recalled that since 1993 the competition's first prize had not been awarded to a sculpture.
The prizes will be given this coming October 7th.
