Phthalates, or more specifically the commonly manufactured 2-ethyl hexyl phthalate, di isononyl phthalate and di isodecyl phthalate are very interesting. Basically, these particular chemicals are used in the manufacture of plastics and are at the center of an interesting moral panic that breaks out like a festering cancer every now and then.
What is this moral panic all about? The "demise of the real man" or the “demise of sexual reproduction"? The rather ironically named "phthalates" are a family of "gender bender" chemicals that are causing a lowered sperm count in men and affecting every other sexed species on the planet. And intersex people are the most visible sign of this horrendous disaster. I mean, if polar bears are the symbol of the evils of carbon dioxide (without which the planet would be a snowball, sort of like Jupiter's 6th moon Europa.), intersex people like myself, those who have to endure the self same moral panic insisting I am a "feminized male" (This is of course norm born bullshit.) are used to symbolize the horrific decline of the “oh so sacred” rutting man-ape. Yes, the ape that grunts in the jungle and goes on to poison the planet in the first place. Interestingly the "North Pole" and "melting ice cap" in this little tale are the area around the Great Lakes. (That speaks volumes. I promise not to laugh!)
To begin with, the condition I have is not influenced by endocrine disrupting chemicals, it is a genetic condition. And I have often wondered why the shrill, screaming tone of the "Consensus Statements" about the “management” of intersex conditions from that general area use the same tone as the climate change lobby. "The science is absolute. Don’t argue".
Well, on Sunday, December the 7th, the Independent (a stable mate of the Guardian you will notice) in the UK had quite a lot to say on this [1], screaming about the evils of gender bending chemicals and the demise of the male. With the usual brain dead Dell user style commentaries about Jemima Clarkson (a feminine form of Jeremy Clarkson, a testosterone powered TV presenter in the UK) chewing on Tampax and eating bags of rice.
The online edition had the usual comments from smug women and terrified men writing in about how nice it is for radical feminists and how bad it is for Phallocrats? (Hur hur!).
Well, I am rubbing my hands with glee quite frankly, not at the demise of men (because that is just gender politics) but the demise of the two sex system. Endocrine disrupters also have this nasty habit of messing up the "female reproductive system" as well. (They never tell you that by the way.) Also this is not evolution "going mad" because of "anthrogenic influences" but the way things tend to happen. Think of it another way. Get a nice Petri dish. Fill it with agar. Get a few bugs to live on it, and then incubate them. After a while they die in their own shit.
However, there is often something that will thrive on the resulting goo and evolution moves on. Look at the humble stromatalite, the bringer of oxygen in the Precambrian times, without which later life forms would not be here. Well sexual reproduction, or more specifically sexually dimorphic apes gave the world Phthalates, (when they got "clever") and that is the shit for which other forms of life (the not so sexually dimorphic primate) happens to be a blessing. Let's face it. If the sexually dimorphic died out and asexual reproduction re-asserted itself in primates, then sadistic surgeons carving up intersex children would be a thing of the past, as would the temples of shit, men and women's toilets. Why would I complain? And it would be all the more amusing if Michigan was at the epicenter of all this. (Bye Bye, Alice! Heh, heh.)
And the thing is, I am serious, because I think that if humanity is going to survive in the long term, it will have to evolve a more efficient form of reproduction, and that will inevitably be asexual. Perhaps this is how it happens.
I know the howls of protest that will be written in response to this, but then I am talking about something actually quite radical (Unlike pretend radicals the in the Indy and Grundian). Not only that, how else would evolutionary necessity play out? The SCUM Manifesto? I don't think so. That would leave women, a non adapted part of the two sex system. Not good enough!
Men and women can be as bad as each other as far as I am concerned; mutilating thousands of intersex children every year, all the while screaming about "gender confusion" and toilets, which is all the more reason for me to say, "Let them die off slowly in their own shit". Hopefully this article will have evoked a response that is not that unlike the Gombe Reserve chimps jumping up and down screaming and grunting in sheer terror that their precious little social order is about to die, slowly and painfully.
Am I really so vindictive and hateful? Actually, despite my reputation, I am not. But if this moral panic leads to the surgical mutilation of one more intersex child, one more "DSD paper" that refers to us as evolutionary mistakes or one more vivisexual quack getting their kicks out of abusing and fiddling with intersex kids, then don't expect my sympathy when the demise of that evil, in its own shit, potentially happens. To be completely honest the environmentalist lobby had better think long and hard about how they are going to approach this, because if I start seeing penis quotas and intersex kids limping around with piss bags and phalloplastic "penises", I will pour as much phthalate laden shit into the nearest river as I can while laughing at the eventual demise of our tormentors. Why do I say this? Well today intersex people are treated as sub human, while the truth is we may well be the next evolutionary step. It is a general principle, the survival of the most adaptive, not the fittest. If the world became super carbon hot tomorrow, and humanity died out, another form of life will appear and continue. A lot of the environmentalist movement is not about preserving life on Earth but preserving the present. Life relies on catastrophe to survive; catastrophe is the engine of evolution.
I think the environmentalist movement is a bit dumb anyway. Like tell people living in temperate climates that if they drive that 4x4, they will be driving along sandy beaches and relaxing in the shade of palm trees in the Arctic Circle. I really do not see how that would be an incentive to "save the planet", especially when the actual consequences of pollution and the effect on the climate are less than clear. A category 5 hurricane killing people and wiping out entire states seem to be a little more realistic a prediction. Well, they will not say this when planning to gentrify disaster areas. Let's face it. Greed is another shortcoming of the rut: acquisition of resources and all that.
But back to Phthalates. I see this as another example of social engineering dressed up as an environmental disaster epic. I am not a skeptic either, but a realist. The only way such pollution is going to stop is if the population decreases. Has anyone ever thought that Phthalates may be nature's indirect way of saying that? In every organism, the seeds of self culling are always present. And I would much rather nature do it than have the monkeys running around killing each other in wars. In fact I would much rather nature do it than some eugenicist nutjobber tweaking and tatting with things they know nothing about.
The faction of the environmentalist lobby who are whipping up hysteria (how ironic) about "feminized manhood" are damning themselves because contrary to popular opinion, they will not be cleaning up the environment but in their arrogance, messing even more with nature or should I say the inevitable. There needs to be a change in the thinking here. Perhaps I can use ants as an example. You know, there are some pretty exotic chemicals used to wipe out ant colonies (some which induce sterility, oddly enough). I tend not to use them. No, honestly I tend to use creosote, water and sugar. I will draw a line on the ground with watered down creosote, and that is where I don't want the ants to go, and then boil some syrup with sugar and more water and put that where I would like the ants to be. It is called "Management" and "Pragmatism". You see social engineers who dabble with the environment just don't get it. They would try to eliminate the ants, rather than see them as a natural ecological resource.
Calling me a "feminized male" and screaming about my being evil because I was not born with viable reproductive organs is pointless and cruel (I am not a male anyway). I am also an intelligent human being with many things to offer, as an intelligent human being. If people are valued by their ability to breed, then those who assign that value are perhaps the greater threat to the environment and deserve to die in the shit of their own making. The planet will probably benefit without them quite frankly. Perhaps the most deadly of the breeders are those who consider themselves "Racially" or "Genetically" superior: the Eugenicsts. They would end up restricting the gene pool so much they would hasten the demise of humanity as a whole. They are not even pragmatic; they are just dumb, and I mean dumb.
I sort of know nature in a very intimate way. And I do not hug trees or dance around in circles at stupid festivals (or even try to get into said festivals). I have a deep understanding of genetics (in fact a deep love of the subject). I have a profound fascination with how life works. This is why I see ants as something good rather than "vermin". And believe it or not I don't see men and women as "vermin". I just see them as stupid at the best of times. Well, to be truthful, it will be their arrogance and need to keep the status quo that will be their demise. Evolution moves on and if they don't keep up, bye bye! They may not be missed.
Every intersex individual is a human being with a brain. Sometimes we are without sexual distraction (not always but more often without such silliness than men and women). Sometimes we are really clever and sometimes we see things men and women cannot. Respect us, because like ants, our kind (organisms that are asexual) have been around a lot longer and will probably survive a lot longer as well. Every single time a surgeon hacks at an intersex child without that child's consent, every time an intersex person is branded as stupid or evil, or disordered, and every time some idiot has intersex people branded as a threat to some "natural order", that is when nature itself is being abused, and nature will answer back.
After all, if nature is comprised of both male and female in the minds of those idiots who talk of "Natural order" then nature, like us, is intersex.
