Who we are

"SIPD is a not for profit grassroots human rights organization in Uganda, which through community outreach and engagement, provides reliable and objective information on the plight of children and persons with intersex conditions (also known as atypical Differentiation in Sex Development) and gender non conforming characteristics in Uganda and particularly addresses the need for organized support as well as advocacy for human rights protection of children and people with intersex conditions.

The objective of SIPD is to advance the protection and support of children and people with intersex conditions through public education, access to relevant information, access to appropriate healthcare, and to challenge discriminatory and oppressive cultural practices relating to sexuality, congenital irregularities, and resulting gender variance; to create social awareness and collaborate with other stakeholders nationally, regionally, and internationally to more specifically address these issues and human rights of children and people with intersex conditions"

Our Vision: “A stigma-free environment of freedom that allows intersex people to make informed decisions regarding their gender and sexual identity.”

Our Mission Statement

“To create awareness on intersex conditions and advocate for a more open, tolerant, and supportive society towards children and people with intersex conditions; and to advocate for protection, welfare, and respect for the human rights of all such persons in Uganda.”
